Fall, 2007
Greetings to Members and Friends of the Arts,
There is an old saying that declares: “Industry feeds the stomach, but art feeds the soul.”
Our mission at the AARC is to provide opportunities to enjoy, educate, participate and inspire through the arts. Put in other words, there is more to life than work and it is our pleasant task to enrich the lives of every person in Randolph County and surrounding area through meaningful encounters with the arts. We have been on task for 53 years and plan to continue for at least another 53 years.
The Art Association of Randolph County is growing into a broad spectrum organization that promotes and encourages everyone from artists to art connoisseurs at every level as well as teaches and shares the arts with children to adults. We provide monthly exhibits and programs in differing venues of the arts, such as visual, auditory, theatre and gourmet arts.
The AARC has developed into a permanent part of the lives of many members and citizens throughout the area. Our Calendar of Events brings greatly anticipated programs to our community such as the 54th annual Art Show in March, 2008 or the 5th annual Summertime Photography Show in August, 2008; the first is an established Indian art cultural event. These fine art and photography shows as well as the monthly art exhibits are what the AARC offers to enrich lives. Workshops, children’s and students’ and adult events, paint-0uts, musical programs, highly anticipated open microphone coffeehouse evenings, galas and more uniquely planned events like our annual free concert during the holidays or like |

our 10th annual Holiday Gift Gallery in December, 2007 all provide meaningful encounters with the arts.
Our creative fund-raising through Gourmet Evenings, Dickens Dinners, Murder Mystery Theaters have remained the paint on the palette that keeps us in operation. But with each fruitful year of increased activities come the increased costs of operation.
After much planning and consideration, the Board of Directors has decided to establish an Annual Fund Drive which will provide an opportunity for you to assist this time-honored, non-profit organization with the fulfillment and development of its annual mission through your financial support.
Your financial support may come in two ways. Membership is a pleasant opportunity to sustain the AARC while provoking special benefits for you: quarterly newsletters, member prices for many of our events, and a cohesive family of friends. The other opportunity is special giving which is above and beyond membership that will exhibit your support of the works that the Art Association of Randolph County is providing. Each level of support will build a foundation of assurance for the staff to continue developing more meaningful and enriching events and experiences.
Please take a moment to reflect on how the arts have influenced you and your family’s lives. More specifically, pause and consider how often you have seen the Art Association of Randolph County in the news or heard a live interview on the air with the director. Check out our website and view for yourself what is happening at the AARC.
Afterwards, I ask you to take a moment to read through our 2008 Calendar of Events and the Sheet of Support. Please fill out the request for your financial support and return it to the AARC, 115 North Howard Street, Union City, IN 47390. We will send you a tax-deductible receipt for your records.
Earlier, I mentioned the old saying of industry feeding the stomach and art feeding the soul. I believe we might add to it by saying: with your financial support, your industry and diligent hard work will provide this community art association with the ability to do its sage job of feeding your soul. We can do it - - together!
Thank you very much for your consideration and support. You are appreciated!
Most sincerely,
Jan Roestamadji William E. Rice Executive Director 2007 Annual Fund Chair
