Artful Events @ the Arts Depot & Beyond AARC General Meetings are open to the membership and are held on the 3rd Thursday from 5:30-6:30PM of each month except March and December. Yoga @ the Arts Depot is a weekly event at the Arts Depot, meeting Tuesdays from 5:15-6:15PM with Certified Instructor Lynne Timmerman.

JANUARY 2012· January 21—Watercolor & Pan-Pastel Artist Workshop, featuring Ohio City OH professional artist and art professor Patricia Rayman. Members: $20 Non-members: $25. Pre-registration required. (9AM-Noon). · January 26—Open Mic Nite for Musical Talent, featuring live performances of local instrumentalists & vocalists. (Sorry, no karaoke.) Be a performer or part of the welcoming audience. The Arts Depot becomes a coffeehouse for the evening. Audience: $2 Performers: Free. (7PM). · January-April—Sharing the Arts in the Classroom. The AARC’s 31st year on sending volunteers into the local grade school classrooms to supplement art appreciation and education including a hands-on project. Art On The Walls @ the Arts Depot for January-February 2012 Art On The Walls Exhibits are proudly brought to you Free of Charge. Light refreshments served at Artist Receptions. · January 11-February 22—”From My Perspective” featuring unique images of ordinary things by Arcanum OH professional photographer Kim Guttadore. CLICK FOR DETAILS · February 25-26—Drop Off of Artworks for ArtShow 2012. · January-April—Sharing the Arts in the Classroom continues MARCH 2012· March 08—Opening Reception & Awards Ceremony for 58th Annual Art Exhibition and Competition-”ArtShow 2012”, featuring an exceptional table and wines. · School Visits to “ArtShow 2012” from local elementary schools. (Parents are welcomed). APRIL 2012· April 06—The Arts Depot is closed for Good Friday. · April 21—Garden Tutorial & New Plant Debut, featuring professional Gina Miller of Miller’s Flowers. Be tutored in better flower gardening, receive a take-home handout, and be among the first to learn about the new Proven Winner plants debuting this growing season. Come with questions. Audience may purchase the plants being debuted after tutorial. $2 @ the Door. Light refreshments. (10AM-Noon). · January-April—Sharing the Arts in the Classroom continues. MAY 2012· May 05—Composition & Portrait Photography Workshop: Taking it to the Next Level. This popular workshop is conducted by Springport IN professional photographer Marvin Groves. Participants will deepen their knowledge and experience from previous workshops or good for first-timers. Lunch provided. Pre-registration required. (10AM-3PM) · May 12—Garden Décor & More, a lecture style tutorial featuring instructions for exhibited garden features by Winchester IN professional “junk artist” Lynn Orr. Great ideas for a great garden. Light brunch tidbits provided. Admission: $10, first come, first seated. (10AM-Noon). · May 19—6th annual Iris Show and Competition. Bring in your favorite iris bloom for an amateur competition and exhibition. Sponsored by the Eastern Indiana Iris Growers Association. Call for more information. No charge. JUNE 2012· June 02—Re-scheduled Artist Workshop—Watercolor & Ink Process (Part 1 of 2). Workshop conducted by Anderson IN professional artist Janet Gregory-Trisler. Pre-registration required. (10AM-3PM). · June 09—7th annual Gourmet Gala (AARC adult major fundraiser). This highly anticipated event features wine, beer and food tastings along with entertainment and annual charity art auction. Ticketed event. JULY 2012· July 04—The Arts Depot is closed for Independence Day · July 07—”Art On Stage 2012”: Under the Gazebo. Family entertainment featuring a musical group (to be announced) will be held at Union City’s Harter Park. Make it a picnic followed by a concert. BYO seating on the hillside by the park’s gazebo. Light refreshments by donation. Free to the public. (4PM). · July 14—3rd annual Canine Creations @ Winchester’s Farmers’ Market on the Courthouse Square. Bringing it to Winchester… your dog, the artist! A finished, framed work of art by your canine. Small donation per dog. No appointments needed. (8AM-Noon). · July 27-28—Drop Off photographs for Summertime Photography Show. · June 30-October 20—Farmers’ Market of Union City IN-OH. AUGUST 2012· August 01—Artist Reception & Awards Ceremony for 9th Annual Summertime Photography Exhibition and Competition. Free. (7PM). · August 18—”Art On Stage 2012”: Under the Amphitheatre. Family musical entertainment held in conjunction with the Chamber’s Mom, Baseball & Apple Pie Festival, featuring a musical group (to be announced) at Winchester’s Goodrich Park. Come join the fun! Free. (1-3PM). · August 25—Autumn Tea for Me! … invite yourself to tea at the historic Arts Depot where you’ll be treated to learning about how to care for Me! May include a small project to edify yourself. $10 @ the Door. (10AM-Noon). · June 30-October 20—Farmers’ Market of Union City IN-OH. SEPTEMBER 2012· September 08—An Evening of Chocolate Overload. Chocolate Lovers Unite!! BYO best chocolate treat to sample, taste and judge. A People’s Choice Award to best entry. Allergy Alerts needed so bring ingredient lists. Served with hot chocolate, coffee and tea. $5 cover. (7-9PM). · June 30-October 20—Farmers’ Market of Union City IN-OH. The newly re-organized Market Committee invites you to purchase local produce, baked goods and coffee under the Arts Depot portico. Stop by with your kids for featured, free, kid-friendly weekly events. (Saturdays 8-11:30AM). OCTOBER 2012· October 13—Community Stone Soup. A community afternoon of soup and sides. AARC will provide the Stone Soup, you provide the sides. Enjoy October together inside and outside the Arts Depot. $1 per person or $5 per family. A special reading of the children’s book “Stone Soup” at intervals. (1-5PM). · October 25—Arts Depot Coffeehouse (Networking event with Darke County Center for the Arts). This annual event sponsored by DCCA as part of their Coffeehouse Series is an opportunity for friends of the arts on both sides of the stateline to unite. DCCA provides the entertainment; AARC provides the coffee and treats. Ticketed event. (7PM). · October 27—2nd annual Farmers’ Market Harvest Fest. Under the portico at the Arts Depot and beyond, this free, fun-filled family event brings the Farmers’ Market of Union City IN-OH to its end of season with celebration. Games, prizes, activities, stories, candy and more. Children may dress up for Best Harvest Costume Award. (1-5:30PM). · June 30-October 20—Farmers’ Market of Union City IN-OH. The newly re-organized Market Committee invites you to purchase local produce, baked goods and coffee under the Arts Depot portico. Stop by with your kids for featured, free, kid-friendly weekly events. (Saturdays 8-11:30AM). NOVEMBER 2012· November 17—15th Annual Holiday Gift Gallery & Wrapping Center & Santa’s Workshop & Santa with Mrs. Claus. Opening Day for the Gift Gallery coincides with Union City’s annual Shopping Day where all the downtown merchants participate in the “start” of holiday shopping. The Arts Depot will also host Santa and Mrs. Claus (see ads for times) as well as the 3rd annual “Santa’s Workshop” where local merchants participate by bringing items for children to purchase ($10 and under, tax included) for their parents, grandparents and siblings. Goodies will be provided for guests. · November 21—Thanksgiving Bake Sale by Farmers’ Market Bakers. Pies, rolls, sweets & savories. Pre-orders or Stop & Shop. (10AM-1PM). · November 22—The Arts Depot is closed for Thanksgiving. DECEMBER 2012· December 07—Union City’s First Friday at the Arts Depot. Come enjoy fellowship, food and beverages while browsing the Holiday Gift Gallery. (5:15-7:15pm). · December 13—Christmas in the City: Gift Gallery & Santa’s Workshop & Kidz Kraft. City-wide event sponsored by the Union City Downtown Revitalization Group brings another Santa’s Workshop and a Kidz Kraft as well as shopping and gift wrapping with the Holiday Gift Gallery. · December 21, 2012-January 2, 2013—The Arts Depot is closed for the Holidays.
